Son Heung-min ‘to accept Tottenham exit’ as £40m+ transfer news emerges

Son Heung-min’s near-decade-long stay with Tottenham could come to an end this summer.

Spurs only recently took up their option to extend Son’s stay with the club until the summer of 2026.

However, the South Korean’s form seems to be on a downward trajectory, with some supporters calling for the 32-year-old to be replaced as Tottenham captain.

As a result, Son’s future is up in the air, with a belief that Spurs would accept offers worth £50million for the forward this summer.

And it looks as though two clubs are already willing to come close to that price point.

Saudi Pro League clubs want £40m+ Son transfer

As reported by CaughtOffside (20 February), Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are interested in signing Son.

The Saudi Pro League giants are both willing to pay as much as £41.4million for the Spurs star. At the moment, Tottenham intend to retain Son’s services and could open talks over a new deal.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Son could have his head turned by a mega-money offer from the Saudi Pro League.

“I believe at this stage in his career, Son could accept that deal,” King said.

“He is going to become incredibly rich if he does accept a move to Saudi Arabia. In addition, from Spurs’ point of view, Son will only have a year left on his contract, and I think the club could put that £40m to good use.

“This move will interest Son and his representatives because he’s at an age now where he isn’t going to be making too many more big moves. This might be the final big move for Son, and £40m is the sort of figure that would certainly cause a bit of interest.”

Son could decide to leave Tottenham

Son might decide as though now is the time to move on from Spurs, and in all fairness, the player would be well within his right to make that kind of decision.

Joining from Bayer Leverkusen at the age of 23, Son has given his career to Spurs. However, he has been criticised in recent weeks as he shows signs of struggling at Tottenham.

Therefore, he might feel as though now is the time to move on before he tarnishes his reputation at Spurs, and a big contract in Saudi Arabia would definitely soften the blow of leaving a club he clearly loves.
