Son Heung-min ‘recommends new transfer’ as Tottenham dealt Kolo Muani blow

Son Heung-min is thought to have recommended a brand new transfer behind the scenes at Tottenham.

As reported by OnTheMinute (12 January), Ange Postecoglou’s side are one of four Premier League clubs interested in Paris Saint-Germain and South Korea forward Lee Kang-in.

Spurs were also looking at Kang-in’s PSG teammate Randal Kolo Muani. However, it seems as though the club have missed out on a deal for the Frenchman, who is set to join Juventus [via Fabrizio Romano, 14 January].

Therefore, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Kang-in could be targeted instead, although doesn’t expect a move to happen in the winter transfer window.

“If they had signed Kolo Muani, they wouldn’t have then also signed Kang-in,” King said.

“However, they could now look at this transfer, with a Son recommendation to support the move. Having said that, I don’t think that deal would happen in January. Kang-in wouldn’t come cheap if Spurs were to sign him. He is 10 years younger than Son.

“Therefore, he is perhaps a player Tottenham are looking to bring in as an eventual replacement for Son. I’m sure with the captain of South Korea, Spurs have some help on what players to target from that nation.”

Tottenham to target Paris Saint-Germain forward Lee Kang-in?

Although some have suggested that Son is finished in North London, it appears as though the Spurs captain is still pulling some strings behind the scenes.

Postecoglou would have no doubt been frustrated to miss out on a transfer for Kolo Muani. However, if Kang-in is also available, he could yet provide some quality to Spurs’ frontline, and having Son at the club could help him settle in quicker.

Therefore, rather than waiting until the summer, Daniel Levy should be looking to strike a deal now.

In other Tottenham news, the club have joined Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for a Premier League forward.
