Romero ‘could still leave Tottenham’ after Thomas Frank reveal – Exclusive
Cristian Romero has been constantly linked with a Tottenham exit.
Atletico Madrid have been chasing his signature, but Daniel Levy’s £60million price tag has put them off so far.
The Argentinian has flirted with a Tottenham Hotspur Stadium exit, brazenly admitting in March that he would like to play in La Liga.
Romero featured just 18 times in the Premier League last season, as injuries took their toll and that only increased speculation about his future.

Romero exit could still happen at Tottenham
Thomas Frank has admitted that he expects Romero to stick around, but there is still plenty of time for that to change.
Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that Spurs could still sanction an exit for the 27-year-old in order to spend more.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “I mean, the feeling and it obviously came from within the Romero camp last season was that he was looking to get out of Tottenham.
“Whether what has happened in the summer might of changed his mind a little but, with the signings that they are making, making a splash in the transfer market, I don’t know.
“You know something, playing in Spain has a big pull for South American players, he is Argentinian and going to play for Simeone at Atletico Madrid would have a lot of appeal for him.
“It wouldn’t be the biggest shock to see Romero go, plus if they are spending all this money, they probably have to balance the books with a couple of players leaving.”
Tottenham exit makes sense for Romero
Spurs cannot rely on Romero; the World Cup winner is far too injury-prone to be a consistent presence for the Lilywhites.
That could mean that they would sanction a departure if the price is right, especially with the significant sums they are set to spend.
They have already spent £55m on Mohammed Kudus and could also drop £60m on Morgan Gibbs-White, if they can resolve the tensions with Nottingham Forest.
They would miss Romero’s leadership and ball-playing ability, but he is not available enough anyway, so it makes sense to allow him to leave if he doesn’t step up.
