Richarlison ‘frustrated’ at Tottenham as transfer news emerges

Richarlison’s time with Tottenham could be nearing an end, with the striker thought to be “frustrated” after recent developments.

It has been another disappointing season for Richarlison, who has missed most of the campaign through injury.

Tottenham paid £50million up-front to sign the Brazilian from Everton, with £10million in add-ons included in the transfer agreement. However, Richarlison’s value has since plummeted, with Daniel Levy in line for a big loss.

And it looks as though a costly exit could be on the cards this summer.

Richarlison ‘unhappy with squad role at Tottenham’

As reported by the Daily Mail (31 March), Tottenham turned down an offer for Richarlison from Flamengo in the winter transfer window.

The Brazilian club were keen on a permanent deal or a loan, with Spurs favouring the former but after at least double the £16million which was on offer. However, should the North London club have another opportunity to sell Richarlison in the summer, they could accept it.

In terms of a potential destination, a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted.

Meanwhile, a return to Everton could be on the cards. However, wherever he ends up, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes it is time for a fresh start for the 27-year-old.

“I think Richarlison will move on this summer,” Wenham said.

“I’m sure he is incredibly frustrated at Tottenham, considering all his injuries and his inability to keep himself in the team. When he was signed, he was the backup to Harry Kane.

“Now, he is the backup to Dominic Solanke. Therefore, it seems as though he needs a fresh start. However, despite the constant links to clubs in Brazil, I’m just not sure they have the finances available to sanction a deal.”

Richarlison should look to rebuild his career away from Tottenham

Richarlison is, without a doubt, a talented player. However, for whatever reason it hasn’t happened for the striker at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Therefore, with two years left on his deal in the summer, now seems the perfect time to part ways. Tottenham are unlikely to offer Richarlison a new contract, and the forward should look to make a move to a club where he will be the starting striker while he is still in the prime of his career.
