Richarlison does not yet deserve new Tottenham contract as ex-employee speaks out
Richarlison’s future at Tottenham may not be as straightforward as initially expected.
The Brazilian has largely struggled for form since his move from Everton three years ago, and that has often seen him come in for criticism from the Spurs supporters.
However, Richarlison has found a new lease of life at Tottenham in the early stages of the new season, having already notched half of his entire Premier League goals tally from last year.
Thomas Frank appears to be getting the best out of the striker, and that has prompted questions regarding where his long-term future could lie.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham scout Bryan King.
Richarlison hasn’t done enough for new Tottenham deal just yet
Tottenham could be prepared to offer Richarlison an extension of his current contract at the end of the season.
The former Everton star’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2027, and he is one of several members of the Lilywhites’ squad who could leave on a free transfer within the next couple of years.
The 28-year-old’s recent resurgence could yet see him land renewed terms in N17, despite his struggles since his £60million move to the capital.
- Richarlison has reached double figures for league goals in just one season since joining Spurs
- He already has three goal contributions from just four Premier League games this season
- No Tottenham player had a higher goals per 90 in the league last season (0.71)
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Richarlison isn’t deserving of a new deal just yet, and still has plenty to prove to Frank.
“I don’t think he (Richarlison) has done enough (for a new contract),” King said.
“If he does well this season, then I’d maybe discuss a new contract, but at the moment, I certainly wouldn’t be interested.
“He’s still got to prove for me, and I would imagine Frank as well, that he’s going to get at least 25 games under his belt, and also score goals.
“I would imagine that Everton were very pleased with that deal, to get that amount of money out of him.
“It makes it look as though Spurs were really struggling to sign a big-name player at the time.”

Dominic Solanke return will test Richarlison
Dominic Solanke’s impending return for Tottenham will certainly test the validity of Richarlison’s recent displays.
Despite his upturn in form, he still leaves a lot to be desired in front of goal, and with Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani beginning to approach full fitness once again, Frank will soon have high-quality alternatives to lead the line.
Poor performances will mean losing a place in the team from now on, and that will surely provide the real test of Richarlison’s resurgence.
