Radu Drăgușin to PSG: Former Tottenham scout speaks out after £40m+ news

Tottenham centre-back Radu Drăgușin has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

As reported by Fichajes (15 January), the French giants are prepared to make an offer of £42million for the Spurs defender, with suggestions emerging that he is already finished in North London.

Ange Postecoglou has been short on defensive options in recent weeks, which made his injury update on Ben Davies [via Football London, 17 January] all the more important.

Therefore, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think now is the time for Spurs to cut ties with Drăgușin.

“Spurs can’t afford to let him go right now,” King said.

“You’ve got your two centre-backs injured, you’ve got an 18-year-old playing at centre-back, and you’ve got Drăgușin, who isn’t good enough. There is still time in the winter window. However, at this moment in time, getting rid of the player you brought in as cover when your two main centre-backs are injured, is bad business.

“I’m shocked that PSG would be willing to pay £42million for him. However, as far as I am concerned it would be easier for him to play in France than in the Premier League.”

Paris Saint-Germain to push for Tottenham defender Radu Drăgușin?

Drăgușin hasn’t exactly set the Premier League alight with his performances since moving to Spurs. However, with so few defenders available at the moment, Daniel Levy cannot afford to sell the Romanian.

Therefore, unless the club are planning to sign a replacement before the end of the winter window – with a move for Fikayo Tomori mooted [via TBR Football, 17 January] – it appears as though the club will have no choice but to turn down any offers from PSG.

However, Drăgușin himself could yet have his head turned if an offer were to arrive.

In other Tottenham news, Levy is two games away from scrapping his Postecoglou plans.
