Postecoglou to be offered ‘top’ Premier League job in months – Exclusive

Ange Postecoglou is still expected to have his pick of the litter despite being sacked by Tottenham.

Postecoglou cemented himself as a club legend when he won silverware with Tottenham for the first time in 17 years.

However, an injury-ridden season and a slim escape from a relegation battle cut his time at the North London club short.

While Spurs are looking ahead towards life with Thomas Frank, the Australian is set to make a comeback as manager.

Postecoglou to be offered new role after Brentford reveal

Postecoglou was one of the bookies’ favourites to take on the Brentford role after Frank’s departure.

It seems they were not too far from the mark, with Postecoglou one of the candidates considered for the role at the Gtech.

Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, held initial conversations with the 59-year-old, but no formal interviews were conducted.

The Bees eventually promoted Keith Andrews, their former set-piece coach, to begin their next chapter.

While the job at Brentford was not to be, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Postecoglou is deserving of an even bigger role.

“I think in terms of Ange Postecoglou, if I were him, I would be waiting for a real top job to come up,” Wenham said.

“And that’s no disrespect to Brentford, but I think after winning a European trophy for Tottenham, having actually been somebody who stuck to his word and delivered where the likes of Antonio Conte and José Mourinho couldn’t do that.

“For me, I’d be waiting for maybe six months, have a bit of family time, downtime to wait for the right opportunity to arise because we know in European football that doesn’t necessarily have to be in the Premier League, but jobs pop up often and a lot and I think there will be an amazing opportunity for him to come in.”

Tottenham are committed to the Frank-era

Daniel Levy’s dealings in the summer transfer window so far have indicated that Frank has his full backing.

In addition to Kota Takai, Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus and were set on spending big on Morgan Gibbs-White before legal issues arose.

With everything to play for next season, Spurs have made a good start in ensuring a competitive team for years to come.
