Postecoglou sack exclusive: Levy to pay huge Tottenham compensation fee
Ange Postecoglou could soon be owed a handsome sum of money by Tottenham Hotspur.
Postecoglou and his players have endured a miserable season in the Premier League.
After 18 defeats, Tottenham are 16th in England’s top-flight. Therefore, it is no surprise that Postecoglou’s future is hanging in the balance.
The Lilywhites can still make this a historic season by lifting the UEFA Europa League as they prepare for the first leg of their semi-final clash with Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May).
However, even if Spurs win the Europa League, Postecoglou could still leave Tottenham, which might prove costly for Daniel Levy.

Levy faces expensive Postecoglou sack decision at Tottenham
This has been an embarrassing league season for Tottenham, with Alan Shearer recently sharing a “shocking” admission.
There have been plenty of calls from Tottenham supporters throughout the season for Postecoglou to be sacked. As a result, some fans might be surprised that the 59-year-old has managed to keep his job for as long as he has.
Premier League 2024/25 | Position | Points |
Manchester United | 14th | 38 |
Wolves | 15th | 38 |
Tottenham | 16th | 37 |
West Ham | 17th | 36 |
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested that Levy might be hesitant to sack the Australian due to a potential hefty compensation fee.
“I think a change is needed,” King said.
“If a change isn’t made, it must mean Postecoglou has a very good contract, which would see him receive a lot of money if he is sacked.
“Perhaps that is the problem, maybe that is why Levy is hanging on. It will be interesting to see what decision is made if Spurs do win the Europa League.”

Postecoglou can still prove a point at Tottenham
It looks as though whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Postecoglou could be set to leave Tottenham.
However, if the former Celtic manager was to leave after guiding Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years, he would at least silence some of his doubters and be able to walk away with his head held high.
