PGMOL asked to respond to Tottenham v Crystal Palace controversy – Exclusive

Tottenham fell to yet another Premier League defeat on Sunday as they lost 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace.

Eberechi Eze scored twice at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to earn Palace what was a deserved London derby victory.

The defeat leaves Ange Postecoglou‘s hapless side just one place above the bottom three in what has been a disastrous domestic campaign.

Palace have goal contentiously ruled out against Tottenham

Oliver Glasner’s side had two goals disallowed in the first half before their third – scored by Tottenham target Eze – was allowed to stand.

Ismaila Sarr had the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out with a Premier League statement outlining that Jean-Philippe Mateta was offside in the build-up.

However, journalist Henry Winter was one of many to suggest the short explanation provided by the Premier League didn’t really cut it given the tight nature of the incident.

And former FIFA referee Keith Hackett, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes the PGMOL should better explain the decision.

The ‘Genius System’ that is now used does not use a chip in the ball, and the law states ‘touched or played’,” Hackett said.

They use the ball tracking system and I believe that this has a slight delay in the decision-making process
So Henry Winter is correct that the PGMOL must explain in detail this decision.

Given the animation, the shoulder is part of the body that is in an offside position and therefore that offside decision in law is correct.

“But is the system without the chip in the ball that accurate? That is the question that requires an answer.

Postecoglou surely finished at Tottenham

Palace were deserved winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what was Spurs’ 20th defeat in 36 Premier League matches this season.

Postecoglou run out of excuses a long time ago, and even victory in the Europa League final will surely not save his job now.

To finish one place above the relegation zone truly is embarrassing, regardless of any success that follows in other competitions.
