Paul Robinson worries about Harry Kane replacement situation at Tottenham amid continuous exit talk

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Paul Robinson believes Tottenham cannot make a like-for-like replacement for Harry Kane with the fee they’d receive for their all-time top scorer, claiming two signings with the money would prove business.

Chairman Daniel Levy has valued his prized asset at a reported £100million [The Sun] but with just a year left on his contract, vying clubs may be able to secure his signature for less if Levy sanctions the move.

With PSG and Bayern Munich currently, the most likely suitors after the French club’s recent attempts to hijack the Bundesliga champions’ bid [Independent], Kane could be set for a move and Spurs could be in for a large transfer fee.

Robinson, however, has claimed that replacing Kane solely with this money is impossible, and smarter investment should be considered if Levy wants to make that money go as far as possible.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “If you take Harry Kane’s goals out of that Tottenham team, it’s frightening to think where they’d be. The last two seasons, the number of goals he’s scored and the amount of games he’s won.

If you take his goals out of that team, and think of what league position they could be in, it’s going to leave one heck of a void. It’s going to leave a cavern.

“Look at what they paid for James Maddison, I think they got him on the cheap and paid a really good £40million for him. If Kane goes and you get £80million for him, you could get two James Maddisons.

“You’re not going to replace Kane like-for-like. You’re not going to be shopping at the same table where Kane or Kylian Mbappe is because you’re going to have to pay double what you’re selling Kane for.

“It’s a very difficult situation.”

In other Tottenham news, Spurs are keen on 24-goal season striker from Ligue 1 as their potential Kane replacement.
