Paul Robinson hails Luka Vuskovic deal as ‘huge feather in the cap’ of Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…
Tottenham’s signing of Luka Vuskovic is a “huge feather in the cap” of the club, according to Paul Robinson.
The club confirmed (27 September) that the 16-year-old Hajduk Split centre-back had agreed on a deal with Tottenham for a fee in the region of £12million, per The Telegraph (10 September), but will remain in his native Croatia until 2025.
Vuskovic has been dubbed one of football’s most exciting prospects, earning caps for the Croatian under-19 side which reached the UEFA Youth League final last season. Manchester City, according to The Athletic (20 March), submitted a £12million bid of their own last season, but Ange Postecoglou’s side came out on top.
While Vuskovic won’t be at Tottenham’s disposal for another 15 months, Robinson pointed to Postecoglou as a key factor in motivating the Croat’s move to N17 and praised the actions of the club in successfully signing such a sought-after talent.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “Whether it’s Postecoglou’s influence or whether that’s the club’s network, but you look at players like that and they’re winning the race to sign players of that type of age.

“Leaving him in the native league that he’s playing in to give him more experience and then bringing them him across to England when they feel that the time is right.
“To win the signing of a player like that is a huge feather in the cap for Tottenham and I suspect that the manager had a lot to do with that.”
