Paul Robinson baffled by Tyler Dibling news at Tottenham

Tottenham are believed to have identified Tyler Dibling as a target for the summer transfer window, though the latest update has many scratching their head.

Tottenham’s main focus for now will be on Europa League success, though attention will swiftly turn to the summer once their fate is decided.

Several players have already been linked with a move to Tottenham, though the likelihood of those deals could hinge on whether or not Spurs are competing in Europe next season.

However, when it comes to Dibling, the likelihood of that deal may hinge on something completely out of the North Londoners’ control.

Southampton pricetag spells bad news for Tottenham

Dibling is a player said to be on the radar of Tottenham, though with Southampton reported to be holding out for upwards of £100million [The Telegraph], Paul Robinson cannot see any scenario in which Spurs pursue a deal.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “£100m? Forget Tottenham. No chance. It’s not even a conversation.

“They’re going down to the Championship, and there will be vultures circling that team. There’s a reason that they’ve gone down because they’ve not been good enough to stay in the Premier League. But two or three of those players in that team are, and he’s certainly one of them.

Dibling has been unable to prevent Southampton from relegation.

“He’s a young player with a lot of talent, a lot of quality. And I think in a better team, he will look like a better player as well. But there’s no way that Tottenham will meet that type of value for a player

“There’ll be a bidding war. There’ll be a lot of teams around Europe and around the Premier League looking at him. And I do suspect that he’ll move on this summer, probably for a highly inflated price. But Tottenham won’t be in that war.”

Tottenham failure could discourage summer recruits

For players linked with Tottenham, it won’t take much to discourage them from making the move after what has been a dismal campaign

Ange Postecoglou will shoulder the blame for the majority of that, but far too many players have seemingly thrown in the towel and been way underpar.

If Spurs are to recruit well, they need to find success in the Europa League, otherwise, they could be in for another troubled campaign.
