Paul Robinson: Ange Postecoglou can replicate Celtic success at Tottenham amid player reunion rumours

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, with his vast scouting links and his ‘encyclopedic’ knowledge of football, can replicate his Celtic success in north London, claims Paul Robinson.

The Premier League’s first-ever Australian boss has also been linked with a reunion at Spurs with his former Celtic players Reo Hatate [Daily Mail] and Kyogo Furuhashi [The Sun], who scored 34 and nine goals respectively for the Scottish league winners.

Should the Celtic players make the switch from Scotland to the Premier League, they will naturally slip in as they know Postecoglou’s football philosophy.

Paul Robinson says he looks forward to seeing the Aussie have an impact at Tottenham and could envision him going back to Celtic to poach some of their best players.

“I think he did a very good job at Celtic”, Robinson exclusively told Tottenham News.

“His recruitment and his knowledge of world football and the market is something that would have attracted Tottenham to him in the first place.

“The players he brought to Celtic are because of his knowledge of worldwide football and the scouting network that he’s got around him.

“Yes, he might look at other players at Celtic that he’s worked with before.

“I just think the man is an encyclopedia of world football. You look at his CV and the teams that he’s managed, you look at the players he’s managed to recruit at Celtic.

“I look forward to seeing the same at Tottenham.”

We are yet to see if Postecoglou can have the needed impact, but perhaps recruiting some Postecoglou-proven talent could facilitate this.

All signs are looking positive, however, as Spurs fans still recover from the hectic Antonio Conte era.
