Paratici ‘to arrange Tottenham meeting with Xavi’ amid Postecoglou sack update

Fabio Paratici could once again provide Tottenham with a helping hand in their hunt for a new manager as an update on Ange Postecoglou’s future emerges.

Daniel Levy could soon be hunting for a new manager at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to succeed Postecoglou almost five and a half years after the 53-year-old was sacked by Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Marco Silva is thought to be willing to accept an offer from Tottenham, while Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank are potential options should the managerial position in North London be made vacant.

However, it looks as though Paratici could lend a helping hand to his former side as Xavi is name-dropped as another potential option at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham to decide on Postecoglou

As reported by Simon Jones via Mail Sport (25 March), Tottenham face a summer of change with Postecoglou’s position set to come under review.

This could leave Levy searching for a new manager, and he could call upon an old friend in Paratici to help him with his hunt.

Paratici was forced to step down from his role as Tottenham Managing Director in April 2023 after he lost his appeal against a 30-month ban on certain football-related activities in Italy, which FIFA ruled to extend worldwide.

However, the Italian has continued to advise Spurs as an external consultant and maintains a close relationship with Tottenham chairman Levy.

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks Paratici could use his contacts to organise a meeting with Xavi.

“Xavi would be someone I would look to contact,” Wenham said.

“If Spurs have any sort of ambition, that is the calibre of manager we should be going after. I understand you need the contacts to help make it happen.

“However, Paratici managed to attract Antonio Conte, which didn’t seem possible at the time. I’m sure he could help Tottenham get a meeting with Xavi.

“Look at what Xavi did with Barcelona, with so many restrictions against him. It was incredible. He brought through a lot of young players and gave the likes of Lamine Yamal a platform to perform. Therefore, he is someone I’d be asking the question of.”

Levy could make a statement of intent by appointing Xavi

If Levy does decide to sack Postecoglou, it will represent yet another failed project under his chairmanship.

Therefore, with frustrations already growing in North London, the 62-year-old will need to ensure he gets his next appointment right, and bringing in Xavi would certainly be a statement of intent.
