Nicolas Kühn stance on Tottenham transfer mooted as Celtic prepare talks
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Celtic forward Nicolas Kühn in January.
Ange Postecoglou is in desperate need of reinforcements this month, particularly in defence, as Destiny Udogie became the latest player to be ruled out for a significant period [via Paul O Keefe, 1 January], with a potential replacement already lined up [via GiveMeSport, 1 January].
As well as defensive reinforcements, it appears as though the North London club are also targeting players in forward areas, with TBR Football reporting on Tuesday (31 December) that Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs looking closely at Kühn, who could cost £9million.
However, according to the Daily Record (1 January), the Hoops are set to open talks over a new and improved deal for Kühn over the coming weeks.
Therefore, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t see why the German would make the move to North London right now.
“Kühn is playing Champions League football in Scotland,” King said.
“I would have thought he is very happy. Scoring goals, playing in Europe, top of the table. He will certainly win things with Celtic this season and has already won one trophy. Therefore, why would he want to leave? I can’t see that deal happening.
“From Spurs’ point of view, they’d probably be better off looking elsewhere.”
Tottenham to miss out on Celtic forward Nicolas Kühn?
Spurs’ failure to lure a player from Celtic to the club would be a serious representation of their struggles both on and off the pitch at the moment.
While Celtic are a big club and doing well this season, the money and status of the Premier League should be enough to convince any player to make the move south. However, if King is proven right, Kühn looks set to snub interest from Spurs, in what would be yet another blow to Postecoglou.
The Australian is under serious pressure and needs recruits in January to help save his job.

However, it doesn’t look as though Kühn will follow in the 59-year-old’s footsteps and make the move from Celtic to North London.
