Mikey Moore ‘to stay at Tottenham’ after loan development twists

Mikey Moore is one of the brightest prospects emerging at Tottenham, but could soon depart on loan.

The 17-year-old has been utilised sparingly by Ange Postecoglou, despite a largely difficult campaign for the Australian head coach.

The young winger hasn’t featured in the Premier League since early February despite his undoubted potential on the flank for the Lilywhites.

Looking ahead to the new season, a loan move could be considered in North London, as a Championship move has been assessed.

There is no doubt that the teenager could go on to be a star for Spurs, but he hasn’t yet been afforded a proper first-team chance.

This has seen the likes of Heung-min Son and Timo Werner be chosen despite their general lack of form in recent months in N17.

This may not be accepted by Moore next campaign as he looks to get more senior minutes under his belt moving forward.

Former Leicester City and Brentford boss Martin Allen has suggested the England under-19 international will remain at Spurs rather than departing for the Championship.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “After the experience he’s had and some of his starts at Tottenham, I imagine he’ll be staying.

If they were going to loan him out, they would have done it in January. I can see why they didn’t, because of their European fixtures, and it’s important to keep the squad together.

He’s one that, if you loaned him out in the summer to the Championship, it might do him good, but after he’s already been playing in the Premier League, it would be a big step back for him.

They will be hoping that next season he’s going to come to the forefront and be playing on a week-in, week-out basis.

He’s such a good player, I’d imagine he’ll be staying at Tottenham.

Moore must step up at Tottenham

There appears to be a lack of trust from Postecoglou towards the young Englishman, which does seem to be strange.

The ex-Celtic head coach has been so willing to utilise young talent this campaign, with Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray capturing the headlines in recent months.

As a result, it does beg the question as to why Moore hasn’t been given opportunities ahead of the likes of Wilson Odobert.

Moving forward, the youngster needs to prove why he deserves to feature more regularly, and that will only be helped in the new campaign.
