Richarlison or Mikey Moore could return to Tottenham squad v Newcastle

Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to get some of the long-term absentees at Tottenham playing once again.

Postecoglou shared yet another disappointing injury update [via Football London, 3 January] ahead of the Premier League clash with Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (4 January).

The Australian is expected to make three changes for the clash with the Magpies, with a host of first-team players unavailable.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is hopeful that either Richarlison or Moore could return to the matchday squad on Saturday.

“I was quite certain that Moore would return for the last game,” Wenham said.

“I’m not quite sure what happened there. However, Postecoglou has said that Moore and Richarlison are both expected to return next week.

“Therefore, I’m hoping one of them will be able to sneak back and get on the bench for Saturday, which would be a huge lift as we desperately need players back. Moore would have played plenty of football over the past five or six weeks had he been available.”

Mikey Moore or Richarlison to return for Tottenham v Newcastle?

Postecoglou is under immense pressure in North London at the moment.

Therefore, should Moore or Richarlison return to the bench against Newcastle, the Spurs boss would be able to breathe a slight sigh of relief. While it wouldn’t solve all of his problems, it would mean the Australian could call on a more experienced player should he need to change the game from the bench.

Although Moore is still young, he is seen as a firm part of the first-team plans and will be disappointed that he has been unable to feature in recent weeks.

However, there is still a long way of the season to go, and the 17-year-old will want to showcase what he can do over the coming months.
