Micky van de Ven injury and surgery Tottenham claim shared by Doctor

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven may be playing through the pain to avoid surgery before the end of the season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as Spurs have something to play for, he could be postponing any procedure amid his recent injury issues.

There was also a roll spotted in the dressing room outside the Dutch centre-back’s locker ahead of the Newcastle clash on 13 April.

Discussing the state of play with Van de Ven’s fitness exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

Difficult to say without knowing the specific type of roll and what it’s used for.

Many players like to tape up even when healthy and many players are also playing through discomfort at this part of the season.

He has had fitness issues lately so it would not surprise me if there was something.

As Spurs have something to play for, he might be postponing any treatment or surgery for the summer, as professional footballers sometimes do.

Micky van de Ven has been exceptional for Tottenham

The 23-year-old has made a name for himself for being one of the fastest players in the Premier League.

However, he’s been exceptional in Spurs’ push for a top-four finish and has been a calming influence at the back for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Australian has given Van de Ven 20 Premier League starts and had he not been injured towards the end of 2023, there is a good chance he would’ve played a lot more for the Lilywhites.
