Micky van de Ven contract offer at Tottenham as BBC pundit shares exit claim

John Wenham believes Tottenham are in a “very strong” position despite suggestions that Micky van de Ven could look to leave the club.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims it would be very difficult for the 23-year-old to secure a move away from North London.

It comes after BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks suggested that van de Ven could seek an exit if Spurs don’t start winning silverware.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the club shouldn’t be worried.

“I would imagine van de Ven was only on around £35,000-per-week at Wolfsburg, and he is probably on about £70,000-per-week at the moment.

“That means the club are in a position where they could easily offer him a pay increase to around £150,000-per-week and add more years onto his contract.

“Spurs are therefore in a very strong position, and although other clubs might be interested, the ball is firmly in their court.”

Micky van de Ven is priceless for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Spurs must do whatever it takes to keep hold of van de Ven.

The defender had a brilliant debut season in the Premier League, which is likely to have attracted interest from clubs around Europe.

With more time and experience van de Ven will only get better, and Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to keep hold of him.
