McFadden’s Tottenham chances rated after two-year contract signed – Exclusive
Tottenham recently confirmed the signing of ex-Leeds United hopeful Max McFadden.
McFadden has spent the last three years in Leeds’ academy developing his craft.
The 19-year-old is said to be a promising young talent who provides sufficient creative threat in the midfield. Tottenham have prioritised developing potential gems as of late, and it is no wonder that McFadden caught their eye.
And now his chances in North London have been rated as he prepares to tackle the long season ahead.

McFadden expected to remain a Tottenham Under-21s player
Tottenham recently confirmed the signing of McFadden for the Under-21s, following his departure from Leeds United this summer.
McFadden was Archie Gray’s agemate at Leeds, and the Spurs defensive midfielder will no doubt be excited to reunite with his former teammate.
Player | Season | Competition | Appearances | Minutes |
Max McFadden | 2024/25 | Premier League 2 | 13 | 694′ |
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes it is unlikely the two share the pitch at Tottenham.
“Tottenham only offered McFadden a two-year deal,” Wenham said.
“Therefore, that tells me that he’s more seen as an Under-21s squad player.
“He didn’t start the recent friendly against Bromley. The midfield trio that started is very strong, I would put them above him straight away. I’d also put George Abbott above him.
“So I think he will just be an Under-21s squad player. Hopefully, he pushes on, but that’s my sort of understanding of where he is at ability-wise at the moment. I’m not sure he’s someone who will be challenging for a first-team spot.”
Frank to give chances to young talents
Frank was known for developing young talent while at Brentford and is expected to continue that approach.
As a result, he will be keen to give minutes to as many youngsters as possible during Spurs’ upcoming pre-season tour. This will delight Tottenham fans who are eager to see several academy talents take to the pitch.
Ashley Phillips is one youngster who could shock if given the opportunity. The defender has shown his potential after successful loans in the Championship. With several young stars training with the first team, pre-season is certain to be an exciting affair.
