Marco Silva ‘to accept Tottenham offer’ amid £7.5m Fulham exit development

Marco Silva is a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou, and it is thought that the Fulham boss would accept an offer from Tottenham.

It appears as though Postecoglou’s sacking is all but sealed at Tottenham.

Therefore, Daniel Levy could soon be on the lookout for yet another new permanent manager in North London. Luckily for the 62-year-old, it appears as though he doesn’t have a shortage of potential candidates.

Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be ready to quit the USA to return to Tottenham. Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank are also potential options.

Brendan Rodgers has even emerged as a surprise candidate. However, Levy could also turn his attention to Silva at Fulham amid a recent exit development.

Fulham to hold contract talks with Silva

As reported in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (23 March, page 70), Silva’s current Fulham deal includes a £7.5million release clause, which is thought to have been off-putting for Tottenham.

Silva looks set to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage. However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the Portuguese coach could have his head turned by Spurs should the North London club decide to make an offer.

“How many managers have Spurs had in the last few years now,” King said.

“They’re not going to win anything if they keep chopping and changing managers. However, Silva has done a great job at Fulham, especially regarding recruitment and style of play.

“I think Silva would join Tottenham if they make him an offer. Fulham are operating with crowds of just under 30,000. Tottenham are operating with crowds of more than 60,000. Fulham are one of the smaller Premier League clubs in London.

“They do not have the financial power that Tottenham have. However, I think Silva will be one of three or four names on a list.”

Levy has a big choice to make at Tottenham

If Levy does decide to sack Postecoglou, it will represent yet another failed project in North London.

Therefore, the Spurs chairman would need to ensure he gets his next appointment spot on, especially with pressure starting to mount from the fans.
