Manor Solomon has Tottenham fight on his hands after ‘disappointing’ injury update at Spurs
Manor Solomon now has a “fight” on his hands to impress Ange Postecoglou with his first season at Tottenham marred by injury, according to John Wenham.
Solomon has played just six times for Spurs this season since he arrived in North London last summer.
Just two months into his Tottenham career the 24-year-old was forced to undergo surgery on a knee injury (via BBC Sport, 6 October) and hasn’t been seen since.
Speaking ahead of Spurs’ 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday 10 February, (via Football London, 9 February), Postecoglou revealed that the Israel international was still another “two or three weeks” away from making a return.
Wenham has been left frustrated by this injury after the impressive start Solomon made in N17.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “He started the season really sharply, he was fantastic away at Burnley, so it’s been really disappointing the way his season has panned out.
“Now when he returns to fitness, he will effectively be the sixth choice forward, behind Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Timo Werner.
“Nonetheless he is still a good option to have in the squad, and he will now have to fight for his place.
“He will need to work hard when he gets back, and maybe next season he can make a real impact in a Spurs shirt.”
Solomon can still make an impact at Tottenham
Wenham is spot on in his suggestion that the former Fulham loanee can still be a success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
His first league start of the season came in a 5-2 win away at Turf Moor against Burnley on Saturday 2 Septemeber, and he was electric that day as he provided two assists for Son Heung-min.

With the number of forwards Spurs currently have on the books, there could be some changes at the club this summer and Solomon will hope that his time at Hotspur Way isn’t cut short.
He still has the potential to make an impact, and he will have to prove that to the club and Postecoglou between now and the end of the season.
