Lucas Bergvall ‘to receive another contract offer’ after Tottenham announcement

Lucas Bergvall could soon be offered a more lucrative contract despite only just signing a new deal with Tottenham.

Bergvall has established himself as a Tottenham midfield regular in his debut season in England.

However, the Spurs star has suffered an injury setback, which is expected to keep the 19-year-old out for the remainder of the season.

This is, of course, a frustrating blow for Bergvall. However, there is still plenty for the Swede to be positive about.

Tottenham ‘to offer Bergvall another new contract’

It was confirmed by Tottenham on Tuesday (29 April) that Bergvall has signed a new six-year contract with the Lilywhites.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has suggested that the teenager will have received a £50,000-per-week pay increase after putting pen to paper at Hotspur Way.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes another pay rise could be on the way within the next year.

“Firstly, I’m not surprised that Bergvall has signed a new contract,” Wenham said.

“I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him offered another new contract by Tottenham within the next year. If he keeps performing at these levels, he will continue to be offered new contracts and wage increases.

“He has probably gone from around £15,000-a-week to £50,000-a-week with this contract, and if he keeps progressing, Tottenham will keep rewarding him and he will probably sign another contract worth £90,000-a-week.

“Bergvall deserves this. He’s had a great breakthrough season and has already established himself as one of our best players. Therefore, I’m glad he has committed his future to the club.”

Bergvall is a big part of the future at Tottenham

Spurs can still end the season on a high by winning the UEFA Europa League, although should the North London club fail to do this, the 2024/25 campaign would be looked back on as a huge failure.

However, the emergence of Bergvall at least demonstrates that Tottenham have some players for the future who could help turn things around in the coming seasons.
