Luca Williams-Barnett ‘to be fast-tracked’ to Tottenham first team – ‘Obscene’
Luca Williams-Barnett is one of several talented young players at Tottenham.
For all of Spurs’ recent struggles, which have left Ange Postecoglou under immense pressure and seen Mauricio Pochettino emerge as the favourite to replace the Australian, Spurs supporters do have plenty of young players to get excited about.
Some of those players are still playing their football with the Under-18s and Under-21s, while others are making a big impression out on loan, such as 19-year-old Jamie Donley.
However, perhaps the most exciting of all these young talents is Williams-Barnett, and whoever is in charge of Spurs next season, whether that be Postecoglou or somebody else, could take a closer look at the 16-year-old.
Luca Williams-Barnett to be fast-tracked to Tottenham first-team?
Williams-Barnett has already been compared to 17-year-old Mikey Moore, who has become a regular member of the first-team squad in North London this season.
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes something similar could happen with the Under-18 sensation.
“Williams-Barnett is putting up obscene numbers this season,” Wenham said.
“When Moore was playing in the youth setup, he was levels above the Under-18 Premier League, and Williams-Barnett’s numbers are greater than Moore’s were.
“It is simply ridiculous what he is doing. We’ve seen him train with the first team and he has been on the first-team bench a couple of times already. However, he is still only a schoolboy player.
“Therefore, I expect that he will spend the beginning of next season with the Under-18s before being fast-tracked to become a member of the first-team squad at some point next season, without needing to play in the Under-21s.”
Luca Williams-Barnett to become a superstar at Tottenham?
Williams-Barnett has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in just 11 Under-18 Premier League games this season. In addition, he has one goal and three assists in two FA Youth Cup appearances as he continues to make an impact in every match he takes part in.
Therefore, it is no surprise that fans are excited by his potential, and Postecoglou would be wise to take a closer look at this incredible talent.

However, Spurs won’t want to rush the youngster’s development, and the decision to hold off on including him in the first-team more regularly until next season could be a wise one.
