Luca Gunter told to leave Tottenham in January as Josh Keeley claim emerges
Luca Gunter needs to leave Tottenham on loan in January for the sake of his career.
Josh Keeley has been making quite the impact on loan with Leyton Orient this season, with the goalkeeper being tipped for a Championship loan move next year.
Meanwhile, although Gunter is recognised as one of the club’s most talented young shot-stoppers, he so far has zero experience of senior men’s football.
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims the 19-year-old needs to leave on loan in January to keep up with Keeley.
“Gunter absolutely needs to leave on loan,” Wenham said.
“Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman are both ahead of him in the pecking order. Therefore, I think between now and the end of the season, the best bet for Gunter is to go out and get some senior men’s football matches under his belt.
“Keeley could return to the club with more than 50 senior games under his belt, while Gunter has zero at this point. As a result, he needs to get out and start playing, it is as simple as that.”
Luca Gunter to leave Tottenham on loan in January?
Spurs have several talented young goalkeepers on their books, although it looks as though the number one spot will belong to Guglielmo Vicario for the foreseeable future.
However, with Fraser Forster expected to leave the club at the end of the season, those young goalkeepers should be looking to at least make the number two position their own.
Right now, it feels as though Keeley is leading that race, although Gunter is still a couple of years younger and has time to make an impact on Ange Postecoglou.

However, he better start soon, because if Keeley continues developing at this rate, it could be hard to displace him in the pecking order.
