Luca Gunter to head out on loan after official Tottenham announcement on Tuesday
John Wenham claims Luca Gunter will leave Tottenham on loan after Brandon Austin signed a new contract with the club.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose hopes that the “excellent” Under-21 goalkeeper can seal a temporary switch this summer.
It comes after Tottenham announced via their official website on Tuesday (28 May) that Austin had put pen to paper on a new five-year deal in North London.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that this opens the door for Gunter to go and develop elsewhere next season.
“Gunter was excellent in the Premier League 2 play-off final,” Wenham said.
“He made some key saves, and he’s another player who I would like to see head out on loan next season.
“And after Austin’s contract announcement, I am sure he will do just that.”
Luca Gunter could become the future number-one between the sticks at Tottenham
Gunter has plenty of potential.
The 19-year-old has demonstrated that this season with some big performances for Spurs’ Under-21s.
However, first-team minutes are unlikely next season.
Had Austin not signed a new contract and left on a free this summer, that might have cracked the door open ever so slightly for Gunter.
But for now, it looks as if a loan move next season is best, with the shot-stopper having already proved himself at Under-21 level.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou will be concerned about one player at the club following his admission this week.
