Lionel Messi-esque attacker ‘to pass Tottenham medical’ in new transfer twist

Lyon winger Rayan Cherki should not take too long to adapt to life in the Premier League if he joins Tottenham, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has assessed the 21-year-old’s fitness record this season, where he has played 30 Ligue 1 games for the French club.

Apart from missing the first four games of the campaign, the France Under-21 international has been available for the rest of it.

Cherki should have no issues clearing his medical this summer

Le Parisien reported on 12 May that the North London outfit have already enquired about the Lyon right winger.

He will take a few weeks to adapt to life in the English top flight, but that is customary for every new player moving to England.

Discussing the state of play with Cherki exclusively with Tottenham NewsDr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

He was absent from the squad for the first four games of the season but has been fit since then,” he said.

I wouldn’t expect any injury-related issue here in terms of his medical.

He may take a few weeks to adapt to the Premier League, but all his other parameters are good enough for a move.

Tottenham can see their attack revolutionised by signing Cherki

“Rayan has a talent comparable to (Lionel) Messi in terms of technique,” said former Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, per GFFN.

The Frenchman could revolutionise Spurs’ attack, with or without Ange Postecoglou as manager.

His versatility to operate as a No. 10, winger, or false nine brings tactical flexibility, fitting seamlessly into the high-pressing, fluid system or a new manager’s vision, whether possession-based or counter-attacking.

Cherki’s flair, vision and ability to unlock defences would add a creative spark, complementing players like Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke.

As a young talent with a reported £25million valuation, he represents a long-term investment capable of elevating Spurs’ top-four ambitions.

His dribbling and playmaking would provide unpredictability, addressing Tottenham’s need for a consistent attacking edge beyond James Maddison.

Whether under Postecoglou’s attacking philosophy or a different tactical setup, Cherki’s ability to create and score could transform Spurs’ forward line, making them more dynamic and competitive in the Premier League.
