Levy to pay big for Frank as Brentford compensation details emerge – Exclusive

Daniel Levy is willing to pay a small fortune to bring Thomas Frank to Tottenham.

The Spurs chairman has been courting the Danish manager for a long time, with Frank now a clear favourite to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

Levy has been biding his time to make a decision, but with the Premier League season now over, the businessman is looking to accelerate the process.

The windfall from Champions League proceedings has strengthened Tottenham’s financial might, allowing them to be more purposeful in the market.

With Brentford already resigned to losing their manager, they have set their compensation fee for the Spurs head honcho to consider.

Levy willing to pay £9m compensation fee

Frank’s progress in taking Brentford from Championship mediocrity to an established and feared Premier League side has been nothing short of spectacular.

This season has been no different, with the Bees securing a 10th-place finish in the league despite having one of the lowest wage budgets in the league, attracting the attention of the Lilywhites.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – insists Levy would have no problem in coughing up £9million, which is said to be the sum Brentford will be owed in compensation.

“Tottenham have wasted plenty of money on managers,” King said.

“They’ve paid off a lot of managers in the last six years. Therefore, I don’t think they’ll have a problem paying the sum of money to appoint Frank.

“Whether it is Frank, or Marco Silva, or Oliver Glasner – these are all managers who could have been brought in before they joined their respective clubs.

“Suddenly Tottenham are interested because Brentford have done well, Palace have done well. However, if they do go down the Frank route, that £9m won’t be a problem. Look at the money they’ve spent on other things.”

Frank an attractive proposition for Spurs

Brentford were the only team, along with Southampton, to lose twice to Tottenham this season, yet those results do not diminish their opinion of Frank.

The 51-year-old is a modern coach well-versed in using data and statistics as well as adapting his tactics to counter his opponent’s strengths.

At Brentford, he has maximised the talent of the players at his disposal, making them perform at a higher level than the sum of their parts.

His man management and general temperament will also entice Spurs and Levy in particular, who have seen their fair share of outspoken voices in the dugout in recent years.
