Levy ready to make ‘uninspiring’ Tottenham appointment after Postecoglou sack
Tottenham will look to appoint a new manager after sacking Ange Postecoglou on Friday.
Tottenham sacked Postecoglou (6 June) after the Australian oversaw the Lilywhites’ worst-ever Premier League campaign.
Spurs finished 17th with 38 points and set a record for the most league defeats (22) without relegation.
As a result, Postecoglou was shown the door and plans to replace him have accelerated.
Spurs look to have already settled on their next coach, but his appointment may end up costing more than it is worth.

Tottenham close in on Thomas Frank
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy launched his succession plan before the end of a dreadful Premier League campaign.
Frank was a leading candidate to replace Postecoglou before his departure, and has now emerged as the clear favourite.

The Brentford manager had a stand-out season with the Bees after finishing 10th in the Premier League, and it is hoped he can do better with a more competitive Spurs side.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that it would be a mistake to welcome Frank to Hotspur Way.
“I find the appointment of Frank a bit uninspiring, to be honest,” Wenham said.
“If the option was keeping Postecoglou or appointing Frank, I would have kept Postecoglou. He ended the trophy drought. There are a lot of young players at Tottenham who will all improve the more time they get on the pitch.
“There was an injury crisis last year, and I don’t think there would have been a repeat of this year’s Premier League form next season. If Tottenham do appoint Frank, I think they would have been better off carrying on with Postecoglou.”

Postecoglou’s departure could cause a knock-on effect

Indeed, several players had formed a close bond with the Australian, including Cristian Romero, who has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
The departure of the Australian could now see the defender leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite Spurs’ hopes to keep him. As a result, Levy may have more to worry about than replacing Postecoglou over the coming days and weeks.
