‘League One club to sign Dane Scarlett’ amid ‘outstanding’ claim – Exclusive

Dane Scarlett is still waiting to kickstart his career with Tottenham.

Scarlett spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Oxford United before being recalled by Tottenham.

It was yet another difficult loan spell for the 21-year-old, who has struggled to demonstrate his potential with several clubs. However, there are still high hopes for the young striker in North London.

Scarlett to ‘drop down to League One’ to reach full potential

Scarlett showcased his talent when he netted and assisted off the bench in Spurs’ 3-0 win over Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League (30 January),

Ange Postecoglou valued the Englishman and even gave him a few minutes in the Premier League last season. However, there seems to be a consensus that he is not ready for consistent first-team action.

Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Scarlett needs one more loan to really take off.

“I think there’s an outstanding player there,” Wenham said.

“He just needs one more loan to really kickstart his career. There is no one I’ve seen in youth football, and I watch a lot of it, who can head a ball like Scarlett, and we saw that with the goal he scored for the first team against Elfsborg.

“I want Scarlett just to get a loan where he’s flying, even if that means dropping down to League One, and then Tottenham could move him up one or two divisions in January.

“I think he’s just been unlucky with his loans so far. I still think that Scarlett’s got a great chance, long term, of breaking through at Tottenham.”

Therefore, the tour could become a special way to heighten expectations going into the forthcoming season.
