Kevin Danso ‘concern’ emerges as Tottenham dealt crushing injury blow
Kevin Danso already appears to be a key player for Tottenham despite having yet to play for the club.
Ange Postecoglou is without several first-team defenders, with Radu Drăgușin having been ruled out for the remainder of the season in a crushing injury blow [via Jack Pitt-Brooke, 3 February].
Therefore, Danso already looks as though he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet in North London, and is expected to make his debut for the club in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday (6 February).
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has some doubts over the 26-year-old’s ability to slot straight in.
“Danso isn’t actually someone that I know too much about,” Wenham said.
“However, I do think to myself that he is 26, he’s been playing in the French league for a long time, and none of the other clubs have touched him.
“Some of these scouts have been on extensive missions in France scouting the likes of William Saliba, Wesley Fofana and Leny Yoro. However, nobody has picked up on Danso before. As a result, that is a bit of a concern for me.
“I hope I’m wrong and he comes in and smashes it. However, that does ring some alarm bells for me.”
Kevin Danso to struggle at Tottenham?
Micky van de Ven doesn’t appear to be 100 per cent fit, while Cristian Romero looks no closer to returning from injury.
Therefore, with Drăgușin now ruled out for the season, Danso appears to be the only fully fit centre-back at Tottenham, and he hasn’t yet kicked a ball for the club.

As a result, that is a concern, because if the Austrian defender does struggle to settle in, Spurs are going to be leaking a lot of goals. However, it wouldn’t be fair to judge Danso before giving him a fair chance.
Therefore, while there is a lot of weight on his shoulders already, fans must wait and see if he rises to the occasion, or crumbles under the pressure.
