John Wenham wants big Tottenham results to ‘keep the positive momentum going’
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
Tottenham must be aiming for victories at home against Sheffield United and Liverpool, as well as a big performance at Arsenal, “to keep the positive momentum going,” according to John Wenham.
Spurs have often struggled against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool and will face both sides back-to-back after their home fixture against Sheffield United when the Premier League returns.
It has been a fantastic start to the season for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham, who are undefeated after their opening four Premier League games. However, they are now set for the toughest tests yet.

And Wenham believes that they must put the past behind them, and focus on getting some important wins over the line.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I’ve been beyond impressed with what I’ve seen so far. When I add to that feeling the fact that these players are going to have a week between games to work on the new system and get used to playing with each other, it is very positive.
“Not only are these players young, but they’re getting better and more experienced each time they play, which is incredibly exciting for a Tottenham fan this season.
“The game coming up against Sheffield United, we just have to win, no excuses. The two fixtures after that, historically speaking, our records are absolutely horrific in, especially in recent seasons.
“The number of times I’ve been at the Emirates, and we have been three down by half-time. Meanwhile, Liverpool at home, they’re the only team we’ve not beaten at the new stadium yet. We have to get that off of our back and go and beat Liverpool. We have already beaten United at home, so it’d be great to get another big landmark victory.

“The key thing is we have got to be confident in those games. The Arsenal game is obviously one I fear, and I’ve seen us be unfolded there a number of times.
“Therefore, If we can go there and get a battling draw and keep the undefeated run going, that would be fantastic.
“Overall, we’ve got to be targeting certainly the Sheffield United and Liverpool home fixtures as two victories, and then see what we can do at Arsenal, to keep the positive momentum going.”
