John Wenham: Tottenham are ‘walking on the absolute limit’ with Fabio Paratici

Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…

John Wenham believes Tottenham are “walking on the limit” by allowing Fabio Paratici to remain “visible” at the club, despite his ban.

On 30 March, Sky Sports News announced that FIFA had extended Tottenham managing director of football Paratici’s 30-month ban from carrying out football activities in the Italian Football Federation to apply worldwide.

Now, Spurs have announced that Johan Lange has been appointed as the club’s brand-new technical director, effectively succeeding Paratici.

Regardless, throughout his ban, Paratici has remained visible at Tottenham events and Wenham believes he will still be a part of the club going forward.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I was at the Sheffield United game, and I spotted Paratici milling around the hospitality areas of the club with Daniel Levy and it seems like he is taking zero notice of this ban.

“He’s very visible, he was in the away end with the fans at Brentford and it seems like it’s very much business as normal for him.

“I think that he and Daniel Levy have an outstanding relationship, hence the continued backing of him despite this ban, throughout which the club have still basically been paying him as a consultant.

“Tottenham will be walking on the absolute limit of what he can and can’t do but all the reports in the summer window were saying that agents were surprised that he was basically still handling everything.

“I personally see him staying on in some sort of consultancy role until the time of his ban coming to an end, and then I wouldn’t be surprised if he continued working at Tottenham.
