John Wenham: Son Heung-min has become ‘Mr Tottenham’ with brand-new role
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
Son Heung-min is “Mr Tottenham” and is flourishing in his role as captain, according to John Wenham.
South Korea ace Son was named as skipper this term after it looked like Hugo Lloris was going to exit the club and he has stepped into the leadership void with the Frenchman ostracised and Harry Kane having left for Bayern Munich.
Son and Kane were quite the double act at Spurs and the 31-year-old forward has been taking on the goal-scoring responsibility left by the England captain.

He has scored big goals in games against Arsenal and Liverpool already and Wenham believes he is thriving as a centre-forward.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I think Son Heung-min has become ‘Mr Tottenham’.
“You’ve only got to look at the numbers so far this season, he’s the second top scorer in the Premier League with six goals, and he is already more than halfway through his league tally from last year.
“He looks really confident, he looks sharp playing as an out-and-out forward and I certainly think that this will become his role moving forward.

“I know at the start of the season, we saw Richarlison as the number nine and he obviously got that header against Sheffield United, but I just think Son will carry on now on as the first choice, main out-and-out striker.
“He’s taking on the leadership role really well and I think we’ve got a good core group now with himself, James Madison and Cristian Romero.”
In other Tottenham news, the PGMOL have released the VAR audio from Luis Diaz’s controversial disallowed goal during the match between Liverpool and Spurs.
