John Wenham: Richarlison future should be a ‘hot topic’ of discussion at Tottenham
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
John Wenham believes the future of Richarlison at Tottenham will be a “hot topic” of discussion during the upcoming January transfer window.
It has been another disappointing season so far for the Brazillian, who has managed just two goals in nine appearances for Spurs.
This follows his debut season in North London during which he scored only one league goal following his £60million switch from Everton (Sky Sports, 1 July 2022).

And Wenham believes that if his form doesn’t improve soon, his future at the club could already be up in the air.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “Richarlison was once again very poor against Luton and ultimately there’s only so many opportunities you can keep giving somebody.
“The only goals he has scored for Tottenham so far have been headers placed directly onto his head from excellent crosses, he doesn’t seem to create goals for anybody else.
“Coming into the January transfer window, I think his future is going to be a pretty hot topic for discussion. If he isn’t hitting any form by then, where do we go with him?

“The only opportunity to get the money back on him would be for him to move to Saudi Arabia.
“I don’t know where we go with Richarlison, his stock is falling rapidly, and we can say he’s a nice guy and we want him to do well, and you can see that from the fans singing about him, but he isn’t putting the ball in the back of the net.
“Whilst we’re getting the wins that’s fine, but I look at all these games and we could be winning a lot more comfortably with a proper striker there. How long that issue is allowed to go on is something the recruitment team need to be discussing.”
In other Tottenham news, Richarlison also experienced a tough time while away with Brazil recently.
