John Wenham believes Manor Solomon is ‘a really good bit of business’ by Tottenham
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose as our exclusive columnist. Each week, he’ll be giving his expert insight on the biggest talking points at Spurs…
Tottenham signing Manor Solomon is a “phenomenal” signing and could push Dejan Kulusevski to start this season, according to John Wenham.
Spurs brought the Israel international winger to North London on a free transfer earlier this summer (Sky Sports News, 11 July), with the 23-year-old penning a five-year deal that will keep him at Tottenham until 2028. He was able to leave Shakhtar Donetsk for free this summer after a FIFA ruling allowing non-Ukrainian players to suspend their contracts due to war in the country.
Solomon has previous Premier League experience, enjoying a successful spell on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk with Fulham last season, scoring five goals in 24 games for the Cottagers.

He has seven goals in 35 caps for his nation, as well as Champions League experience under his belt, and Wenham believes he could enjoy a positive spell with Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I really like Solomon, I think on a free transfer it’s a good bit of business.
“I think as soon as you get him to put pen to paper on a five-year contract, he’s instantly worth £15/18million as somebody who has got Premier League experience, is young, and has done good things in the Champions League for Shakhtar, scoring home and away against Real Madrid.
“He can play on either wing so we’re effectively replacing Lucas and Arnaut Danjuma in one person, so I think that’s a phenomenal squad move to bring him in.

“Apparently he has settled really quickly with the other players, they all seem to like him, so I am pleased.
“I think he will be a great option coming on against tired defences this season, but also, I back that if he can get into the side and do his favoured cutting in and bending a goal into the far corner a couple of times, he will be pushing Dejan Kulusevski to start.”
