‘James Maddison to return to Leicester City’ in Tottenham exit shock – Ex-Foxes boss

James Maddison could be in line for a return to Leicester City after a difficult season at Tottenham.

The England international has failed to impress under Ange Postecoglou this campaign as Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League with seven games to go.

The Australian head coach has continued to come under fire in North London and hasn’t been helped by the performances of his most senior players.

Maddison is certainly one of those, and his lack of positive performances in recent months could prove to be a catalyst for a return to the King Power in the summer.

Maddison could sign for Leicester City from Tottenham

The 28-year-old has struggled for regular minutes in N17, which has resulted in criticism from the likes of Roy Keane throughout the year.

This has seen the former Norwich City man register just 15 Premier League goal involvements in a difficult season at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

As a result, it could prove to be wise for both parties to sanction a transfer in the summer as the Lilywhites look to renevate their squad.

Former Leicester City manager Martin Allen has suggested that a return to the Foxes could prove to be beneficial for his career.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “James Maddison is an extremely technical player and a good player.

Defensively, he’s not the best, and he’s not particularly mobile now. Will he be the one to take Tottenham forward next season?

He needs freedom in that number 10 role, ready to receive the ball and he’s been disappointing at that this season.

Maddison isn’t going to be happy with the amount of games he has played. Which clubs would want to take him now? I wouldn’t imagine Forest would want to take him with their quality of forwards.

Maybe a return to Leicester to return to the Championship, he’d get double figures in goals.

Maddison would benefit from Tottenham exit

It is fair to say that things haven’t quite worked out for the attacking midfielder since making the switch from the East Midlands to the capital.

This could prompt a summer exit for Maddison who has come under pressure from supporters for his level of performance for the Lilywhites.

The Englishman isn’t alone in his poor form with Son Heung-min also struggling to maintain a positive level in recent months.

It will be interesting to see if the number 10 can find a new club and how much Spurs can realistically demand for his signature.
