James Maddison injury news shared by Doctor as Tottenham update drops
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...
Tottenham attacking midfielder James Maddison may return to full first-team training this week, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that in case he faces a setback, the delay would depend on how severe it is.
It’s understood that he should be available for selection before the end of January, but thus far, there has been no official word from Spurs.
Discussing the state of play with Maddison exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Sounds like, from Ange’s comments at the end of December, he was still a way away from returning.
“If he faces a setback, the delay will depend on the severity and specifics of the setback.
“The return date is slated as the end of January, so he could be expected into full first-team training any day this week if he’s on track with his recovery.
“Will have to wait and see what the official updates reveal.“
Tottenham take on Manchester City next in the FA Cup on Friday, 26 January.
That game is likely to come too soon for the English attacking midfielder, especially if he’s not returned to full first-team training.
Maddison hit the ground running at Spurs since joining in the summer, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 11 games.

His last game was back in November against Chelsea which saw his side end with nine men and lose 4-1.
