Injury Expert: Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur should be back by September

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...

Rodrigo Bentancur will be focusing on handling multi-directional movement as he vies to return for Tottenham Hotspur, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert explains the specifics as the Uruguay international, 26, is recovering from an ACL rupture that ruled him out for several months.

Premier Injuries website reports that he should be back by September and that’s a view shared by Brar as well.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Tottenham Hotspur News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “Bentancur is currently recovering from an ACL rupture and subsequent reconstruction and should return by the September expectation.

His individual training will involve the same principles of progressing activity intensity & duration.

With an ACL injury, some keys will be handling multi-directional movement and change of direction, especially spontaneous movements.”

The 26-year-old last featured for Spurs in February when they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to the now-relegated Leicester City.

The central midfielder even grabbed a goal in that game but could only play 65 minutes before being withdrawn.

Bentancur was a regular for Spurs until his season ended as he made 18 league appearances right up to February.

He even saw himself as part of the goalmouth action, finding the back of the net on five separate occasions along with providing two assists.

In other Tottenham news, a forgotten Spurs full-back may feel like a new signing under Postecoglou.
