Injury Expert: Tottenham full-back Ryan Sessegnon out with issue more severe than Grade 2 hamstring tear
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Sessegnon’s extended absence means that it is a Grade 2 hamstring injury, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert believes that the English full-back should have been back in six weeks after he suffered an injury at the start of February.
The initial plans were to have him back before the end of the season, but Ryan Mason has ruled him out of action.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Tottenham Hotspur News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “The injury is a hamstring tear that he had in February. The original timeline was said to be around six weeks but obviously, it’s been significantly longer than that so it could be more severe than a Grade 2 tear.
“Another example of why public timelines aren’t all that accurate – it really comes down to the injury specifics and how that player is responding to physio.”
Antonio Conte used the 23-year-old on numerous occasions this season as he played him in the left wing-back role.

He’s made 17 Premier League appearances this season with almost half of them coming off the bench for the North London outfit.
He’s found the back of the net on two occasions but has not registered a single assist for Spurs.
Sessegnon will be looking to get more minutes next season as he’s still got two more years left on his deal and it remains to be seen if he has a future under the new manager.
