Injury Expert moots December training return for James Maddison at Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison is unlikely to return to action before January next year, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The earliest the injury expert sees him returning to training is the middle of December and even if he’s on track, it won’t be enough for him to make his first-team return.
The attacking midfielder picked up an ankle injury in the first half of the 4-1 loss against Chelsea on 6 November at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Discussing Maddison’s situation exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Based on the two-month timeline, this is likely either an inversion ankle sprain with a fracture or a Grade 1 or stable Grade 2 high ankle sprain.
“A training return in mid-December should be on the cards for Maddison. It did not look to be too serious initially, but he won’t be back before the new year.
“The physios will be methodical with his return and he’ll be training individually for a few days once he’s given the green signal.“

Maddison seemed to have hit the ground running this season under Ange Postecoglou and quickly became one of the Australian’s first names on the team sheet.
After Leicester’s relegation, the 26-year-old was linked with a number of Premier League clubs and eventually moved to North London.
In 11 league games this term, the England international has bagged three goals and provided five assists.
He was even getting his recognition at the international stage but after his recent injury, he’ll be unavailable for Gareth Southgate’s side during the break.
In other Tottenham news, a forgotten Spurs full-back may feel like a new signing under Postecoglou.
