‘Gibbs-White unsettled’ amid Tottenham and Nottingham Forest twist – Exclusive

Morgan Gibbs-White’s potential move to Tottenham has emerged as one of the major transfer stories of the summer so far.

Spurs recently announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, but Daniel Levy already looks prepared to splash out on another big-money signing with Gibbs-White firmly on Spurs’ radar.

Tottenham had triggered Gibbs-White’s £60million release clause, but they have since been met by plenty of protests from Forest.

The East Midlands outfit have threatened to take legal action against the Lilywhites for what they believe was an unlawful approach for their star.

Gibbs-White to be unhappy with Forest’s stance

Gibbs-White has continued to report to Forest training, despite Spurs’ interest, and now a fresh twist has emerged in the saga.

It had been widely reported on Monday (14 July) that Forest had lodged a complaint with the Premier League.

However, according to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett (15 July), the Reds are yet to complain to the Premier League about Tottenham’s approach, though they remain adamant that their star man will not be going anywhere.

They have tried to negotiate a new contract with Gibbs-White over the last year, but he is understood to have been reluctant to remove the £60m clause.

Levy and Co. are continuing to watch on from afar as the situation unfolds.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Gibbs-White will quickly be growing frustrated with the current situation, as Forest continue to stand in the way of his move to North London.

“I can’t imagine he (Gibbs-White) is very happy at the moment,” King said.

“Suddenly, Nottingham Forest have an unsettled player, who thought he was going to a different football club one minute and is now still with the club he wanted to leave.

“He obviously does want to join Tottenham. To me, this just seems like a delaying tactic to try and unsettle the player and get him to stay at the football club.”

Tottenham must consider alternatives

The saga over Gibbs-White’s potential move to Spurs seems unlikely to end any time soon. Therefore, with that in mind, the N17 outfit must continue to explore possible alternatives to the 25-year-old.

If they don’t, and they are unable to convince Forest to alter their current stance, then Thomas Frank could easily run out of time to secure the addition to his midfield that he clearly desires.

The former Wolves man can remain their priority, but it would be prudent for the North Londoners to begin working on other options in the background, until they receive a definitive and clear indication on Gibbs-White.
