‘Frank transfer plans to become clear’ in Tottenham v Reading – Exclusive
Tottenham fans will soon discover the direction Thomas Frank plans to take the Lilywhites in.
Tottenham take on Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday (19 July) in their first pre-season confrontation.
The fixture has been a highly anticipated one with supporters in North London eager to see Frank’s Spurs side in action for the first time.
However, fans could get more than they bargained for with transfer plans to become clear.

Tottenham’s squad v Reading will reveal who is in Frank’s plans
Tottenham have had an eventful summer so far after signing Mohammed Kudus, with the hope that Morgan Gibbs-White will follow.
But the upcoming pre-season tour will be more than a chance to see Spurs’ recruits in action. Indeed, players will have the opportunity to prove their commitment to the club while Frank will take the time to decide next season’s squad.
As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes those not named against Reading are likely not in the Dane’s plans.
“It’s going to be an interesting squad because I think it will make clear as well, which players are certainly not involved moving forward,” Wenham said.
“If you’re not in that squad tomorrow, which, as I said, I think it’ll be a huge, huge squad tomorrow of maybe up to 30 or 35 players.
“So, I think tomorrow will get a lot of clarity on who’s involved in the plans and who’s going on loan.”

Tottenham fans will enjoy the young talent on display
There are several young talents that Tottenham fans will hope to see take to the pitch against Reading.
This includes Ashley Phillips, who could start the confrontation. The young centre-back has enjoyed two loan spells and will be fighting for a starting spot in North London.
Phillips has demonstrated great maturity for his age and is unafraid to enter duels, which could impress Frank. With Cristian Romero’s future still uncertain, the youngster could be given the nod this forthcoming season.
Player | Season | Club | Appearances | Minutes |
Ashley Phillips | 2024/25 | Stoke City | 39 | 3.309′ |
Jamie Donley | 2024/25 | Leyton Orient | 52 | 3.683′ |
Jamie Donley is another player tipped to start for Tottenham, and there is reason to suggest he will excel if deployed in his natural position.
Therefore, Spurs supporters have much to look forward to over the next couple of weeks, starting against Reading on Saturday.
