‘Forest to open Gibbs-White contract talks’ amid Tottenham controversy – Exclusive

Nottingham Forest could now respond to Tottenham’s interest in Morgan Gibbs-White by opening contract talks with the midfielder.

There has been no secret of the Lilywhites’ interest in Gibbs-White after his £60million release clause was triggered at the City Ground.

It is clear that Evangelos Marinakis and the Reds have taken issue with the nature of Daniel Levy’s transfer approach for the 25-year-old.

This could cause problems for Thomas Frank and his hopes of signing the attacking midfielder, as talks over a new deal could now be opened by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Gibbs-White to enter Nottingham Forest contract talks

There is no getting away from how great a signing Gibbs-White could prove to be for Spurs moving into the new Premier League campaign.

Having already confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, the Englishman would be a real coup for the N17 outfit.

With that being said, the £60m approach for Gibbs-White by Tottenham hasn’t gone down well in the East Midlands and could result in an extended stay with the Reds.

This has seen former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen speak out and suggest that contract negotiations could now begin at Forest to halt Tottenham in their tracks.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “When I saw that move for £60m, I was absolutely astounded.

“He was one of the best players in the Premier League last season and was definitely Forest’s best player. In the final third, he can make things happen and has a great attitude.

“I think Forest needs to quickly call him in to negotiate a new contract now. If Tottenham do get him for that amount of money, then I think it will be one of the signings of the summer.”

Tottenham will hold out for Gibbs-White deal

It does still appear that the Lilywhites are hopeful of landing a deal for Gibbs-White before the summer window comes to an end.

Frank and Co. have to hope that Forest will be scuppered in their new contract attempts, something which will open up doors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This could then become one of the most impressive deals in the entire division, moving into a new era under the Dane.
