Finance Expert: Tottenham will appoint marquee manager in summer after Stellini and Conte payouts

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham are likely to wait to appoint a marquee manager in the summer after taking a couple of risks this season.

The finance expert admitted that Ryan Mason is likely to stay in charge of the final Premier League games of the season with a long-term plan hopefully put in place.

Spurs have bitten the bullet twice this season already, getting rid of both Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini, with a third dismissal classed as very unlikely.

“You can never say never in football,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“It could happen, although it is very unlikely. It has to be now about rebuilding and who they now get in the future, it has to be a long-term view for how they want to view and invest in that squad.

The great stuff Spurs have off the pitch, but this is unlikely with Ryan Mason staying until the end of the season and then a new marquee manager with hopefully a new long-term view on things.”

The fans have had to deal with so much rubbish this season, they likely just want it to end.

Mason is currently taking charge of the club for the second time in his short management career, with a long-term appointment needed for stability and a likely rebuild from top to bottom.
