Finance Expert reacts at Tottenham news as Daniel Levy highest paid director in Premier League
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Daniel Levy will never be able to win as the Tottenham chief was named as the highest-paid director in the Premier League.
It has been revealed that Levy tops the charts, earning a total of £3.265million, almost £400,000 more than the second on the list [Kieran Maguire].
The finance expert admitted that if Spurs were doing well on the pitch after a disappointing season, fans would not have as many concerns on this money being spent.

“This is always a question now that is always daft around the numbers,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“The challenge here is when things are going well on the pitch, this is less of an issue, front and centre, it’s always the way. When you’ve had a season like Spurs have had and you’ve not hit the expectations or anywhere close to them, then people will start to point to these sorts of things.
“It then becomes a case of an individual answer if you think that is an acceptable thing to do. As a director of a business, you are quite within your rights to do it legally, however, it’s a football club, you’ve got the fan expectation of where that club wants to be and they will say that money could have been used elsewhere or doesn’t need to be as high.
“I think you can never win with these things, when things are going well nobody really bothers too much, but when things aren’t going so well, people point towards this. Levy has been doing this for a number of years so it is unlikely to change.”

Plumley hits the nail on the end, this is very subjective.
Not many would have expected Brighton to be in second place on this list, but they can argue their money is being well spent after qualifying for Europe in a sensational season.
Change is being called for at Tottenham, and it may not be long until those demands are met.
