Finance Expert reacts as Tottenham stadium damaged during international break
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...
Dan Plumley insists Tottenham will not have accounted for “mindless” behaviour after damage to their stadium over the international break.
Sky News shared on 14 October that police officers were called to the stadium and arrested a man for criminal damage. The cost is said to run into six figures.
The finance expert admitted that it is a relatively low cost compared to the revenue that the new stadium does produce, but one that clubs will not want to be looking at when constructing the ground.

“You can’t account for mindless behaviour by certain individuals,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“In the grand scheme of things, it is a relatively low cost still in relation to the revenue that the stadium generates.
“Listen, maybe clubs are building in things like that nowadays with the way people can behave, but it’s certainly not a cost you want to be looking at when you’re building a new stadium.

“It’s just something that you don’t expect to happen, but there are some bizarre people out there, unfortunately.”
Further reporting from the Guardian Series on 16 October shared that the damage was “destroying windows” without lawful excuse, with no links to anti-semitism.
A further court appearance has already been set for 10 November after the man was remanded on conditional bail.
