Exclusive: Tottenham ‘mislead fans’ with social media blunder, post now deleted
Tottenham appear to have misled supporters after an academy player cleared up a recent social media post.
Ange Postecoglou’s side haven’t had the season they would have liked by any stretch of the imagination.
Spurs’ severe injury crisis has led to inconsistent results in the Premier League, leaving the North London club 13th in the table. In addition, Tottenham have also been dumped out of both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
As a result, the only thing they have left to play for is the UEFA Europa League, which returns on Thursday (6 March) as Postecoglou’s side travel to the AFAS Stadion to take on AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash.
However, it isn’t just the Spurs players who have been making mistakes this season, with the social media team also experiencing something of a blunder recently.

Tottenham share misleading Dane Scarlett post
In a now deleted post, Spurs’ official academy shared an image via X of the Under-21s squad training ahead of their Premier League 2 clash away at Leicester City’s Under-21s on Monday (3 March), with Dane Scarlett featuring in the picture.
This image was posted via Lilywhite Rose on X (27 February), with fans speculating that Scarlett might be in line to feature for the Under-21s. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has revealed that a player informed him this was actually an old image.
“One of the players replied to my tweet,” Wenham said.
“He told me that the image was from January. I’ve left the post on my official X account as otherwise we get no context as to when these pictures are from.

“These kinds of things effectively mislead fans, and it is only because I have a good relationship with this player that I’ve been able to clear things up.
“Scarlett might still feature for the Under-21s, especially if Dominic Solanke is close to full fitness. However, if Solanke isn’t in line to return against AZ Alkmaar, I’d expect Scarlett to sit out of the Under-21s’ clash on Monday.”
Scarlett set for a big second half of the season with Tottenham
Scarlett has been a prominent part of the first team in recent weeks.
Therefore, it would have been odd if he was training with the Under-21s. However, it appears as though this is not the case, and the striker will be hoping to make a big impact in the coming months.
Scarlett has been unable to establish himself at Tottenham and has struggled while out on various loans over the past few seasons.
However, now that the 20-year-old appears to be a part of Postecoglou’s plans, he has a big chance to kickstart his Spurs career, especially if he can score a crucial goal in the Europa League.
