Exclusive: Tottenham hopes of signing Ajax sensation Mika Godts in January scuppered by injury blow
Mika Godts’ recent injury has killed any chance of the Ajax sensation making a switch to Tottenham in the January transfer window, Tottenham News has been told.
Godts has been one of the stars of Ajax Under-23s’ Keuken Kampioen Divisie this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 12 appearances so far during the current campaign.
The 18-year-old winger has already made 12 appearances for Ajax’s first team, including eight this season across both the club’s league and UEFA Europa League campaigns.

He saw 30 minutes of action from the bench against Premier League side Brighton in the Dutch side’s 2-0 UEFA Europa League Group Stage defeat against the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium on 26 October.
A recruitment source with links to Dutch football has told Tottenham News that Spurs were interested in a move for Godts, who has been described by scouts as one of the “best” young players at Ajax.
Unfortunately for Godts, a thigh injury he picked up before the winter break (Ajax Official Website, 12 December) has killed any chances of the youngster making a switch to the Premier League.
Tottenham News understands that Godts is set to be out of action for the early part of 2024, which has put Ange Postecoglou’s side off making a move for the Belgian this month.

Godts has already made seven appearances for Belgium’s Under-19s, registering two assists across those matches.
Spurs could benefit from the addition of a new forward in north London to add depth to Postecoglou’s attacking options as the Australian looks to guide his side back to European football next season.
In other Tottenham news, Real Madrid and Barcelona have both set their sights on signing one of Spurs’ most important defenders.
