Exclusive: Tottenham ‘could greenlight Mikey Moore exit’ this summer

Mikey Moore has had gametime restricted at Tottenham since the return of several first-team players.

Given the dismal season that Tottenham are enduring domestically, it’s a surprise to have seen such limited minutes for talent like Moore.

Even in the Europa League, the 17-year-old has had to wait patiently for his time to shine, with his omission in the latest triumph against AZ leaving many baffled.

Given that Spurs are unlikely to want a repeat of this season the nightmare, game time could become even more restricted for the teenager next season, potentially opening the door for an exit.

Moore could depart Tottenham this summer

At his age, Moore will want to be playing regularly, as will Tottenham, in order to see his development continue at the rate at which it has this season.

To achieve that, Paul Robinson – when speaking to Tottenham News – thinks that Spurs may look to seal a loan exit for the winger this summer.

He said: “There’s an option [to go on loan] for him. How much is he going to be used next year? What type of development is the player going to have? And is it going to hamper his development by not playing every week? Or is the player going to be better sent out on loan, being a part of a first-team squad, playing every week?

“There are different characters. He strikes me as the type of character that would absolutely relish going out on loan, being the main man somewhere, scoring the goals, and coming back after a season on loan.

“For me, looking at him, if he’s not going to be part of the first team next year on a regular basis, he’ll be in the squad, but actually 10 minutes off the bench here and there, hopefully maybe some European football, is not going to be enough for him. I think going out on loan will be better.”

Tottenham may regret Moore omission

Attacking quality has been missing throughout the campaign for Spurs, though Moore has still rarely been afforded the chance to play.

If he is not going to get regular football here, a loan exit must be pursued if they are to avoid his development slowing down.

Moore has the potential to become a top Premier League footballer, but if that is to be achieved, he needs to be managed correctly.
